'Of this Earth'
an exhibition by Derek Fitzpatrick and Ben Readman

Of this Earth is a deeply emotive exhibition, imbued with an intriguing and intuitive response to subject and theme on the part of both artists. Fitzpatrick’s landscapes stem from an innate and spontaneous experience of landscape rather than a cerebral approach to direct representation, creating works that are invitingly multilayered and evocative. Likewise the portraiture and landscape work of Readman eschews notions of literal description; his images are filled with exquisite ambiguity and a captivating tension between what is known and unknown, what is seen and unseen.

Derek Fitzpatrick’s work is included in numerous public and private collections and, since graduating with a Degree in Fine Art from Dublin Institute of Technology, he has featured prominently in group exhibitions and various solo shows.

Ben Readman, also a graduate of Fine Art from Dublin Institute of Technology, lives and works between Dublin and Marseille, France. Last year Readman had a solo show in the Stone Gallery, Dublin, and showed in various group exhibitions in Ireland and abroad, including `Marseille Now` at the Sichaun University Museum, China. His paintings feature in many private and public collections.
